Empathetic Listening

At several times in the story, Tiger’s mom shows empathic listening (when Tiger’s Dad has to go to work and can’t go to the game, and when Tiger’s team loses the game). Empathic listening is really listening and letting the other person know that you can relate to how they feel. It’s an important skill for children to learn. They learn it from us. When we take the time to listen and show that we understand, they learn to do the same. By modeling the behavior that we want our kids to emulate we are teaching them. And better yet, we are relating to them.
